Elizabeth Grossglos, has been traditionally identified as the wife of Charles Sebastian Kayser (1726-1778) and one of the first settlers of Frederick county, Virginia (established in 1743). Shenandoah County was created on 15 May 1772 from Frederick County and was initially named Dunmore County. [1] Page County was formed in 1831 from Shenandoah and Rockingham counties.
The following have been claimed as sources for this tradition but none of them are deemed as reliable proof of her existence. Instead, they do point to a strong family tradition.
An Article, titled The First Keyser Family of Page County, Virginia, was contained in The Virginia Genealogist Magazine, Volume 37, number 1, published 1987 [2] and is available through the Church of the Latter Day Saints (The Mormans) FamilySearch.org website: https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/1284936?availability=Burley%20Idaho%20Family%20History%20Center.
Elizabeth and Charles, and their son, Charles Jr. is also listed in the first family of Shenandoah, digitized here: http://firstsettlersshenandoahvalley.com/documents/First-Settlers-list-as-of-Aug2011.pdf
Elizabeth's Find A Grave memorial indicates that she was born in 1710, in Germany and died in 1773, in Shenandoah county, Virginia. She is buried in the Keyser Cemetery, in Page county, Virginia. [3]
