Karl Johann Heinrich Grosshans immigrated from Godramstein, Landau, Bavaria, Holy Roman Empire to Kassel, Glückstal, Odessa/Kherson, Russian Empire with his parents, Jakob and Philippina Grosshans. They were pioneer settlers of Kassel, when it was established in 1808.[2] [3]

Heinrich Grosshans married Margaretha Stock [b calculated 1783 Billigheim, Rheinland-Pfalz (Baiern)].[4]

Karl Heinrich and Margaretha had the following children:

" 67 Groshans, Karl 31, Seine Frau [his wife] Margareta 31, seine Töchter [his daughters] Charlotte 8, Barbara 3 1/2, Katharina 1 1/2.[2]

They were living next door to his parents in 1816. Jakob and Philippina were in household # 66 of Kassel, Odessa/Kherson, Russian Empire. Their entry reads:

"66 Groshans, Jakob 57, seine Frau [his wife] Philippina 54, seine Kinder [his children] Jakob 20, Barbara , ausgeschieden durch Heirat [went out through marriage] Katharina ausgeschieden durch Heirat"[2]

His wife, Margaretha, died on 1 December 1834 in the Glückstal District, Odessa/Kherson, Russian Empire. [4]

Karl Heinrich Grosshans married second, Sophia Zelmar on 15 July 1835 in the Glückstal Parish, Odessa/Kherson, Russian Empire.[6]
