Biography
Husband of Louisa (Morris) Grove (1848-1937). Son of Abraham Grove and Elizabeth Mary (Read) Grove. Father of seven children. He enlisted on Oct. 23, 1861 in the 36th Indiana Infantry, Co. E. His regiment fought at Shiloh, Chickamauga and Kenesaw Mountain. Before the war, when Alfred was 19, he worked on the farm of David Morris in Green, Fayette, Ohio. After the war, he would marry David Morris' granddaughter, Louisa Morris.
