Ithacan Takes Own Life as Health Fails
George Grover, Injured in Fall Two Years Ago, Hangs Himself in Garage -- Was Tinner by Trade -- Was Member of Odd Fellows

George Grover, 54, of 132 Fayette Street, in ill health for two years, today hanged himself.

The body was found in his garage by Patrolman Raymond Wilkinson, who investigated a report received at Police Headquarters that Mr. Grover was missing.

Mr. Grover was a tinner employed by Treman, King & Co. Two years ago he was injured in a fall. Ill health and mental depression resulted.

Because of the absence of Coroner William L. Sell, who is attending a health officers' meeting at Saranac Lake, Dr. Willetts Wilson was called by police. Officers were notified that Mr. Grover was missing at 6:55 a. m. Their information was received through a telephone call from Mrs. Alvah Terry, a neighbor.

Mr. Grover was a member of Ithaca Lodge, 71, IOOF and Tinners' Union, Local 26.

Surviving him are his widow; four daughters, Mrs. Floyd Conover and the Misses Alice, Ruth and Mary; a son, Lester, all of Ithaca; his father, Ira Grover of Slaterville road; two brothers, Fay Grover of Slaterville Road and Ira Grover of Ithaca; and a sister, Mrs. Paul Caley of Kennedys Corners.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Saturday at the State Street Methodist Episcopal Church. The Rev. Raymond H. Cox, pastor, will officiate.
