Biography

Two Sarah Grovers

The Sarah Grover born 24 Mar 1724[1] and baptised 7 Jun 1724[2] is the daughter of John and Allis Grover per Killingly Vital Records. John Grover was born 1689 Malden, Massachusetts[3] and married Alice Covel 10 Mar 1708 Charlestown, Massachusetts.[4] Alice Covel is the daughter of Joseph Covell (b Edgartown, Mass, dies Killingly in 1733). Sarah marries James Covell who is grandson of Joseph Covell via his father Joseph Covell (Jr).

Sarah Grover and husband James Covell are cousins. While an definitive primary source record of which Sarah marries John Grover has not been located it is most frequently seen, by birth dates associated with one Sarah or the other, that the correct parents of the Sarah who marries James Covell are John Grover and Alice Covell. It is possible the inverse is correct.

Sarah's Cousin Sarah

The Sarah Grover baptized 17 Jan 1725 in Putnam, Conn is the daughter of Stephen Grover per Church records.[2] A secondary source lists her as the wife of Benjamin Cunningham with marriage date 21 Nov 1743[5] A marriage of Sarah Grover to Benjamin Cunningham is also recorded in the Barbour Collection.

The fathers of the two Sarahs Stephen Grover and John Grover are brothers, both are naming daughters after their mother, Sarah. Both are sons of Stephen Grover (1658-1694, Massachusetts).
