Mary Jane and her husband, James, moved to Ohio soon after marriage and were livlng in Racoon Township in Gallia County, next to Stephen and Catherine Bright. They had only one child by that time, but the family had several males and females in the 15-19 and 20-29 age range, as well as one female age 60-69, that probably included her mother, Elizabeth, and several younger brothers and sisters. In 1850 they were living near her mother, Elizabeth Grow, in Bethlehem Township, Cass County, Indiana.
