Biography

Jacob was born in 1834. He passed away in 1924, @ the age of 89 yr, 10 mo and 25 days; cause of death per DC -> "paralysis as reported by the informant, no attending physician" Informant was J.E. Haga of Major , VA. - His occupation was "Blacksmith" reported on DC as well as Census Records - He was married 62 years and survived his wife by 2 years they are both buried in the Grubb Cemetery

1850 Grayson C> age 16; lvg w Gabriel Stickly as a "blacksmith apprentice"

1856> age 21 , married Margaret "Peggy Haga" (18)

1860 Grayson C> age 26, lvg w wife and children (5,3,3mo) blacksmith

1861 > age 27, enlisted 6/28/1861 in 51st VA Inf, Co. D, CSA at Fox Creek, as 2Lt;

1870 Grayson C> age 36; lvg w wife, children (15, 13, 11, 9, 7, 4) farmer

1880 Grayson C> age 46; lvg w wife & 10 children (24, 22, 16, 14, 12, 10, 6, 4, 2, 7mo); Blacksmith

1900 Grayson C> age 66; lvg w wife/children (18, 16) and married daughter (28) , 3 y /o grandson, and wifes brother/wife (59/60)

1910 Grayson C > age 75; lvg w wife/children (30, 27) and 4 grandchildren (13,9,6,4)

1918 > age 84, death of wife Peggy in October

1920 Grayson C> age 85; widower; lvg w unmarried daughter, Myrtle (37) and grandchildren (22, 17, 15) -
