Ralph Grundy was born in about 1821 in Windle, Lancashire. He was the son of Thomas and Ann Grundy. He was christened on 1 Jul 1821 at St Helens Parish Church. His father's occupation was given as labourer, and the family's address as Windle.
Ralph's whereabouts in 1841 are unclear.
Ralph married Ann Pye on 8 Apr 1849 in Farnworth near Prescot. Both were of full age (21 or more) and neither had been married before. Ralph was a lime burner living in Windle; Ann was living in Parr. Their fathers were named as Thomas Grundy (labourer) and William Pye (shoe maker). The witnesses were Thomas Lightfoot and Alice Grundy.
Their son Thomas Grundy was born in about 1850 in Windle.
By March 30th 1851, they were living in Windle. Ralph was working as a lime burner, and Ann's brother John was living with them and also working as a lime burner.
Ralph died in 1857, aged 36. He was buried on 4 Feb 1857 at All Saints Church in Rainford, Lancashire. His address was given as Windle.
