Jack was born to Henry O. and Rose Ellen Smith Guard, in Clear Creek, Box Elder County, Utah, on November 27, 1916.[1][2]
Jack had at least eight siblings. During the U.S. Census of 1930, he was found living, in Rupert, Idaho, at age 13, with his parents, and the following siblings: Jane (born in Idaho, ca. 1912), Delores (born in Utah, ca. 1916), Glenn (born in Utah, ca. 1918), Bert (born in Idaho, ca. 1920), Ross (born in Idaho, ca. 1921)(born in Idaho, ca. 1921), Warren (born in Idaho, ca. 1923), Marie (born in Idaho, ca. 1926), and Florence (born in Idaho, ca. 1928).[2]
Jack may have lived, as a bachelor, in Montana.[3]
Jack enlisted in the U.S. Army, in Los Angeles, California, on May 16, 1942.[4]
Jack died in Somerton, Arizona, on April 7, 1991.[1]
Jack's obituary doesn't specify which county he was born in, and there are three Clear Creeks, in three different counties, in Utah. I am guessing that he was born in Box Elder County, because his mother's mother, Josefina Bernhardina Beckman Smith, had settled in that county.Vaughan-3997 13:27, 8 November 2019 (UTC)
