Biography

Alois Guenther was born in Austria around 1867. His siblings were Richard and Tonio, although he may have had another relative in Webster, Ferdinand Guenther, born 1869 and came from Austria, whose citizenship application he was a witness to. He immigrated to the USA along with his whole family and became a naturalized citizen of the USA on October 12, 1896. He lived at 132 Main Street in Webster, MA. He worked in a ladies shoestore in 1900, and may have been a painter before that. He had eight children, seven boys and a girl. One of the boys died in infancy and another died in World War I. He died in 1953 at the age of about 86.

Possible immigration

There is a ship record[1] of an "Alois Guenther", born around the same time, who immigrated to the USA in 1890 and came from Bohemia (modern day Western Czech Republic). Since Bohemia was then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, it could very well be the same Alois.
