Biography

Mexican flag
Nicolas Guerra has Mexican ancestry.
Born in Karnes County

Nicolas Guerra was born in Karnes County, Texas into a farming/ranching family. His life began on March 5, 1920[1]

In 1935, he was living in Hidalgo County with his parents, however, by 1940 he temporarily relocated with his family to Arkansas and Bolivar County, Mississippi.[2]. He married Beatriz Trevino in 1941.[3] He became a father in December of 1941. [1]

Nicolas moved back to Texas before 1945. It is unknown what happened to Beatriz.

On 30 January 1945, he married Miss Maria de Jesus "Susie" Sanchez de Salazar.[4] Susie was also a farmer's daughter. [1]There are no wedding pictures because Susie was supposed to marry somebody else but this person was killed during the war and Susie and Nicolas eloped.[5]Nicolas and Susie were the parents of 8 children.[1] After 23 years of marriage, Nicolas and Susie divorced in Fort Worth, Texas.

Memorial written by granddaughter

Nicolas Guerra de Trevino, a Native Texan, traded his limited earthly life for everlasting eternity with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on June 3, 1999[6]

He was born in Helena/Karnes City in Karnes County. He was a second-generation Mexican-American, born and raised deep in the heart of Texas, where the cotton fields were his playground until he was big enough and strong enough to work on the farm.

Nicolas gave up the country life and moved to the city. Fort Worth, Texas became his new home where he lived the last twenty or more years of his life. Nicolas was a son, brother, father, uncle, great-uncle, nephew, great-nephew, cousin, grandfather, great-grandfather, composer of music, and musician. His instrument of choice was the violin. He enjoyed fishing; spending time with his family; eating bacon; and smoking Bugler brand tobacco.

He was survived by: three of his five siblings: an older brother, Mr. Erasmo Guerra and his family of Fort Worth; two younger sisters, Mrs. Odelia Guerra de Garcia and her family of Rosedale, Mississippi, and Mrs. Carolina Guerra de Valenzuela and her family of Fort Worth; nine children: four daughters and five sons; numerous grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Nicolas was preceded in death by his parents, Eutimio de Hernandez and Eufracia Trevino de Guerra; and two brothers, Aurelio and Ricardo Guerra de Trevino and Ricardo's wife.
