In the 1841 Census, William and Mary Guest were listed living in Blacker Hill, Darfield, Ecclesfield, Yorkshire & Yorkshire (West Riding), England [3] William was listed as a born in 1806, a Mason.
At the time of the 1851 Census, William and Mary were living at Blacker Quarry, Barnsley, Yorkshire. William is listed as a Quarry Owner. Also in the house was their son Martin (at school), and an 18 year old nephew William who was working as a stone mason.[4]
At the time of the 1861 Census, William was listed as a quarry owner employing two men. Also in their home were newly married Martin and Marina, and William's unmarried sister Anne. [5]
William's death was registered in the second quarter of 1866, in the district of Barnsley. He was 62 years old. [6]
At the time of the 1841 Census, there were two other Guest families listed very close by - a Martin and George - both 25 years old. Perhaps brothers of William.
