Biography

Susanna was born in the Province of North Carolina. She was the daughter of Jonathan Guice and Anna Stump. Her parents had settled in Tennessee for a bit while migrating west from Pennsylvania. They then moved to Franklin, Mississippi around 1790.

On 21 July 1803, in Natchez, Adams, Mississippi, she married John A. Kinnison Sr. They were 1st cousins, as John's mother and Susanna's father were brother and sister. They settled in Adams where they had 12 known children.

In 1811 they moved to Franklin, MS. They remained here the rest of their lives.

John and Susanna died in October of 1880, the JGG bible[1] says that she died at the age of 90, making it in 1880. It is unknown where they are buried.


Research notes for her birth location: North Carolina was one of the original 13 colonies, ratified the Constitution, Saturday, November 21, 1789, prior to that it was referred to as the Province of North Carolina. Then, this Province became Tennessee when it became a state on Wednesday, June 1, 1796. Prior to that it was referred to as Province of North Carolina, Southwest Territory.

I have changed the spelling of her birth location from "Providence" to "Province" of North Carolina.
John A Kinnison and his wife Susanna Guice were 1st cousins, John's mother and Susanna's father were brother and sister.
