Birth
Samuel Louis Guidoux was born in 1878, in Ashfield, New South Wales, Australia, the second and younger son (and youngest child) of Jean Francois Guidoux and Margaret Gordon.[1] The last name is rendered as "Guideux".
Death
Samuel Louis Guidoux died aged 73 years, on the 17th October 1951, in Annerley, Queensland, Australia, as the result of being hit by a truck on Ipswich Road.[2] He is registered as last name Campbell (the last name of his mother's third and last husband). with his father listed as "Thomas Guidoux", a mixture of his father (Jean Francois Guidoux) and step-father (Thomas Herbert Campbell).
Samuel's cause of death is listed as "crush injury to chest and pelvis; fractured spine; mutilating injury to abdomen". A post mortem was carried out on the 18th October, but no inquest was held. The informant (which explains the mish-mash and discrepancies in information) was a local police officer: C A Freestone, specifically noted as "no relation".[3]
Burial
South Brisbane Cemetery, on the 24th October 1951. Geo. Hartnett, witness.[4]
It is speculated that Samuel was named for a cousin (20-year-old Samuel Louis Varidel, son of Abram Samuel Varidel and Susanne Lousia Guidoux) who had travelled from Vaud, Switzerland, with Jean Francois Guidoux in 1854.
No marriage for Samuel was found in either New South Wales, or Queensland.
Family records hold no clue regards why Samuel may have gone to Queensland.
