GUILMET / GUILLEMET, Nicolas

Nicolas Guillemet was baptized on 2 Jul 1644 in Nesles-la-Montagne, Champagne, son of Nicolas Guillemet and of Jeanne (Souhaite) Saute.[1]

Quoted exactly from Association Des Familles Guilmette "The only son of Nicolas Guilmet and Jeanne Saute. Nicolas Jr had ten children, only one of his sons...Jean ...had sons to carry on the Guilmet name. Nicholas Guilmet Jr is the one who sailed to New France (Quebec) and married in Quebec City Marie Selle in 1667. After their marriage they settled in Chateau Richer and then moved to an island called lle d'Orleans. It is after they left the Island and moved to Bellechasse/Montmagny where five generations were born." [2]

Marriage
Nicolas Guilmet married Fille du Roi Marie Selle, daughter of the late Guillaume Selle and Marguerite Dormesnil, on 17 Oct 1667 in Notre-Dame de Québec, Canada, Nouvelle-France. In the presence of known witnesses Jean Bourdon and Romain de Trepagny of Château-Richer. The celebrant priest was Henri de Bernières.[3][1][4]

In the 1681 Recensement de la Nouvelle-France, Nicolas Guillemet (40 years of age) and his wife Marie Selle (34 years) and his children Jeanne/Jean (13 years), Barbe (12 years), Prisque (9 years), Jeanne/Jean (7 years), Nicolas (5 years), Marie (3 years), Jacques (1 year) [5]

Death and Burial
Nicolas Guilmet passed away 15 Dec 1700 and was buried the following day in Saint-Jean, Île d'Orléans. In the presence of known witnesses René Cochon and Jean Plante. The officiating priest was G. Coeurderoy.[6][1]
