Biography

Sifroy Guillory, son of Joseph Guillory and Claire Fontenot, was born about 1792 in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.[1][2]

He married Euphrosine Jeansonne, daughter of Jean Jeansonne and Anastasie Prejean, on 30 Jan. 1815. Their marriage was recorded at St. Landry Catholic Church, Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana. On 24 October 1850 he was listed as a planter when counted in the census with his wife Euphrosine and their children Dalicourt and Euphrosine, living next to his son Sifroy Jr in St. Landry, Louisiana.[3] Euphrosine died before 31 Jan. 1856 the date of her succession in St. Landry Parish.[2]

He married Celeste Veillon, widow of Henri Soileau, and daughter of Francois Veillon and Helene Lafleur, on 14 May 1856 at St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.[2]


He was a farmer when he and Celeste appeared on the census of 15 Aug. 1860 at Opelousas, St Landry, Louisiana.[1]

Sifroy died on 1 July 1862 at Prairie Mamou, Louisiana. His death was recorded at St. Landry Catholic Church, Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.[2]
