Jean Michel Guillot was born Sep. 29, 1769 in Trigavou, Bretagne (today Pleslin-Trigavou, Côtes-d'Armor), France. Death:
Jean Michel died Sep. 23, 1827, Thibodaux, Lafourche Parish, Louisiana at 58 years of age. His death is recorded at St. Joseph Church in Thibodeaux, where he had been one of the first trustees. He was buried in the church cemetery, as were his wife and most of his children.[2]
He had served as a Captain in LeBoeuf's 7th Regiment of the La Militia, and was a farmer in Brulet Guillot, Lafourche Parish at the time of his death. His succession Sept. 27, 1827 is recorded at the Thibodeaux Court House.[3]
His father was Charles Olivier Guillot (son of Jean Baptiste Guillot & Marie Madeleine Arcement); his mother was Madeline Josephe Boudreaux (dtr. of Olivier Boudrot & Hugette Guerin).
He was married to Marie Rose Pitre (dtr. of Pierre Olivier Pitre & Rosalie Hebert) on November 26, 1789 in Donaldsonville.[4]
Marie Rose was born in 1766 at France, she died in 1824 at Lafourche.
Jean Michel's father, Charles Olivier, was nine years old in 1755 when his family was expelled from Cobequid, Acadia to France during the "Great Expulsion" by the British. Charles' father, Jean Baptiste, and five of Charles' siblings are believed to have died at sea during the voyage. Charles grew up and married in France. In 1785, Charles age 38, his wife Madeleine Josephe age 40, Jean Michel age 14, Simon Francois 12 and Isabelle age 10 left France for Louisiana on the ship "Le Saint Remi". They arrived 75 days later; settled at Lafourche.
