See his original baptism record here ^[1] Guimond spelling is wrong because it only appears on secondary sources, including PRDH and Tanguay, although the original baptism record is available and legible. His father's surname is also spelled GUIMONT on his own original baptism record. This original record may be viewed here ^[2]

Birth and Childhood

François GUIMONT was born on 23 November 1730, and baptized the following day at Cap-Saint-Ignace, Canada, New France. He was the 10th of 12 children born to François GUIMONT and Elizabeth FORTIN. ^{[3] [4]} Francois's father's occupation was listed as "Major de Tout Le Sud" ^[5]

In 1733, when François was 2 years old, his mother Elizabeth died, age 38, in Cap-St-Ignace. ^[6]

In 1734, his widowed father remarried, to Ursule GAMACHE in Cap-St-Ignace. Together they had 1 child, a half-sister to François. ^[7]

In 1738, when François was 7 years old, his stepmother Ursule died, age 26.

In 1743, his twice widowed father married a 3rd time, to 40-year old Angelique PELLETIER in L'islet-de-Mer, New France. ^[7] Sadly, Angelique died just a few months later.

Marriage

In 1749, age 19, François married Marie Angelique SIMON DARAGON, age 22, at Notre-Dame-de-Quebec, in Quebec City, New France. Marie Angelique was born in 1727 in Quebec City, New France, daughter of Pierre SIMON and Marie Angelique VANDAL. Together they had 13 known children ^{[8] [9]}

Death

François died in 1790 in Rivière-du-Loup (now Louiseville), Province of Quebec (the name of Canada, New France was changed to Province of Quebec, a British Colony, in 1763). ^[18]. His wife, Marie Angelique died in 1804 in Lotbiniere, Lower Canada (the name of Province of Quebec changed to Lower Canada in 1791).
