Note N131James was a farmer in Pickens County, Alabama, until he moved the family to Lowndes County, Mississippi, between July 1918 (after his last daughter's birth) and January 1920 (the first census record of their residence in Mississippi). 1

Odie Lee "Bud" Guin told Nancy Loyette Guin Lollar the story about his father's (her grandfather's) middle initial. He really was not given a middle name at birth, but got so tired of people asking him about it that he made one up. He would tell people that his middle name was "Orlando" but since he thought it started with the letter "R" that became his middle initial. At first, this was thought to be simply a family legend until his World War I Draft Registration Card was discovered with the name, James Orlando GUIN, boldly declared on it, complete with matching birth information, address, and the name of his wife, Mary, listed there. 1

Nancy Loyette Guin Lollar remembered her brother, Edward Lester Guin, going through the woods one day to Grandpa Guin's (James) farm. On the way, he heard the sound of a gunshot. As he got closer, someone ran up to him and sent him back home, because James Guin had shot and killed himself in front of the barn. 1
