On January 27, 1888 at Wayne, Michigan, Henri Berthiaume and Pommela Guindon were married. Henri, 36 years and a farmer of Sandwich, Ontario was born in Canada to Denis Berthiaume and Frisine Ouellete. Pommela, age 24 was a resident of Detroit. She was born in Canada to Herbert Guindon and Marguerite Laframboise. It was the first marriage for both.[1]
In 1891, Henri and Pomila were farming at Sandwich with their 2 sons; Daniel (1) and infant Denis. Also at the residence were lodgers Sarah Berthiaume and Sophie Berthiaume (later censuses identify them as sisters of Henri).[2]
