Charles Spencer Guinness was born on 1 June 1932. He was the son of Major Owen Charles Guinness and Katherine Doris Smith-Ryland. He died on 24 April 2004 at age 71. Mr Guinness was a direct descendent of the brewing family but his ancestor Hosea Guinness, an eldest son who would have been expected to inherit the family business, instead turned his back on commerce and followed a vocation into the church. Charles Spencer Guinness died on April 24 last year and owned lands at Tibradden, Rathfarnham. He was a gentle and much-loved teacher at St Columba's for much of his working life.
