Sir Algernon Arthur St. Lawrence Lee Guinness, 3rd Bt. was born on 11 May 1883. He was the son of Captain Benjamin Lee Guinness and Lady Henrietta Eliza St. Lawrence.

He married Winifred Hall, daughter of John George Hall, on 10 July 1928. He died on 26 October 1954 at age 71.
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England. In 1911 he was bankrupted. He fought in the First World War.1 He gained the rank of Acting Lieutenant-Commander in the service of the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve. He succeeded to the title of 3rd Baronet Guinness, of Ashford Castle, co. Galway [U.K., 1867] on 20 January 1915. He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in despatches. He gained the rank of Flight Lieutenant in the service of the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve (Air-Sea Rescue).
