Arthur was born on 2 November 1876. He was the son of Edward Guinness 1st Earl of Iveagh and Adelaide Guinness. He normally went by his middle name Ernest.
He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.).
He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of the London Rifle Brigade (1st london Volunteers).
He held the offices of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) and Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of County Dublin, Ireland.
Atthur married Marie Clothilde Russell (daughter of Sir George Russell, 4th Bt. and Constance Charlotte Elisa Lennox) on 15 July 1903 at St. George Hanover Square, London, England.[2]
They had 3 children;
Sibell Mary Guinness (b. 16 May 1904, d. 31 Mar 1999)
Maureen Constance Guinness (b. 31 Jan 1907, d. 3 May 1998)
