Biography

Russell Gullett was born in Appalachia, in Kentucky.

Russell Gullett was born on 04 June 1892 at Mariba, Menifee County, Kentucky, United States. He was the son of Dial Gullett (b. 1842) and Elizabeth Catherine (Dennis) Gullett (b. 1850).

In the 1900 census Russel (age 7) was the son of Dial Gullet at Magisterial District 5, Menifee County, Kentucky, United States.^[1]

Russell married Ora Powers on 3 March 1912 at Menifee County, Kentucky.^[2]

He registered for the WWI draft at Menifee County on 5 June 1917. This record confirms his birth date and his residence.^[3] He was married with one child and was described as being of medium height and build with black hair and eyes. Some health conditions were noted, but the registrar noted that he 'didn't look sick'.

Russell and Ora lived most of their adult lives at Middletown, Butler County, Ohio. They were parents of three children:

1. Christine C 'Kitty' (Gullett) Etter (1912-1999)
2. Pauline (Gullett) Thiel Warrick Lacy (1919-2002)
3. Paul Gullett (1925-1996)

In the 1920 census Russel (age 26) was the married head of household at 418 Crawford Street, Middletown, Ohio.^[4]

In the 1930 census Russell (age 36) was the married head of household at 2215 Superior Avenue, Middletown, Ohio.^[5]

Note that Nora and Claude were Ora's half-siblings as seen in the 1900 census above.

In the 1940 census Russell (age 48) was the married head of household at 2210 Superior Avenue, Middletown, Ohio.^[6]

He registered for the WWII military draft at Middletown, Ohio in 1942.^[7]

Russell died (age 73) on 07 March 1956 at Butler County, Ohio.^[8][9] He was buried at Woodside Cemetery, Middletown, Butler County, Ohio. ^[10]

Ora died (age 84) on 27 November 1978 at Middletown, Butler County, Ohio, United States.^[11][12] She was buried at Woodside Cemetery beside Russell. ^[13]
