Biography

World War 1 Draft Registration

When he registered for the WW1 Draft, Frank Avent Gumm said he was 32 years old, born on March 20, 1886. He was living in Grand Rapids, Itasca County, Michigan, and worked and the proprietor of a theater. His nearest relative was Mrs. Ethel Gumm of Grand Rapids. He was of medium height and build, with grey eyes and brown hair.[1]

1900

In 1900, William I. Gumm, a 41 year old widower b. Tennessee February 1839, lived with five children, all born in Tennessee: Mary Gunn, 20 b. February 1880; Emmett, 17 b. March 1883; Frank, 14 b. March 1886; William, 11 b. January 1889; and son Allie, 7 b. June 1892. Charlie Graham, a 21 year old boarder, was living with the family. William Sr.'s father was born in Tennessee.[2]

1910 Tullahoma, Coffee, Tennessee

In 1910, Frank A. Gum, a 23 year old office stenographer, lived in a place he rented on Lincoln Street with his sister Mary, 28 years old, and brother Allie R., a 16 year old "express" laborer. All were born in Tennessee. [3]

1930 Antelope, Los Angeles, California

In 1930, Frank A Gumm, 44 b. Tennessee, was living in a place he rented at 1211 12th Street, with his wife Ethel M.,35 b. Michigan, and three children born in Minnesota: Mary J., 14; Virginia D., 12; and Frances E, 7. Frank's parents were born born in Tennessee, while Ethel's were born in New York. Frank worked as the proprietor of a theater.[4]
