Ida Josephine Gunderson Simpson was born in November 1864 in Michigan. She married Hans Christian Simpson in 1880. She had three children by the time she was 23. She died on January 12, 1956, in Muskegon County, Michigan, at the age of 91, and was buried in Oakwood Cemetery in Muskegon, Michigan.
