George Gunn and Sinclair Bain were named as the parents of George Gunn who was born in November 1829 and baptised in Watten, Caithness, on 1 February 1830.[1]
In 1841 George Gunn is recorded on the census as living in Whitefield, in the parish of Watten, Caithness, with his wife Sinclair and children William, George, John and Alexander. His trade was army pensioner.[2]
It is likely that Alexander Gunn, father of Alexanderina Gunn was related to George Gunn in some capacity. At the time of Alexanderina's baptism in 1827, her place of residence (or the place of residence of at least one of her parents) was Catchery in the parish of Watten.[3] Living in Catchery during the first half of the 1800s were the Gunn family (related to George Gunn) and the Mackay family. More research is required to confirm the precise connection between George Gunn and Alexander Gunn.
