He married Sarah "Sally" Wheeler in October 1808 in Camillus, Onondaga, New York. They had 10 children.
Both Comfort and Hezekiah (his son) were in Ashtabula County, Ohio, then in Ingham County, Michigan. They may have come from Onondaga County, New York.
Military
Comfort was in the War of 1812. His GGGgranddaughter, Pat Tejeda, has copies of his bounty papers, and his wife's pension filing. He was a Private in Fleming's Detachment, New York Volunteers. (War of 1812 Muster Rolls -- Roll Box 87, Roll Exct 602)

Noted, however, to have been living in Kingsville, Ashtabula, Ohio, when daughter Harriet married Edward Hammond in 1842.
In the 1850 census there is also a Comfort Gunn in Ashtabula County, Wayne Township, Ohio.

Death date:
Date of death on his grave stone is 7 March 1860, his age at death being 75 years, 11days. But the U.S. Government gives Comfort's death as 11 March 1859 (having to do with pension). Comfort's birth date is calculated from the assumption that the grave marker should be 1859 and not 1860.
