Harry was born in Virginia Water, Surrey in 1889. He is the son of William Gunner and Charlotte Clay. He was christened in Englefield Green, Surrey on 2 February 1890.
We see no evidence that Harry ever married or had children.
At the time of the 1911 Census, Harry was working as a plumber's mate. In 1915, at age 26, Harry enlisted with the British Army in Egham Surrey. Fittingly, he became a 'gunner', but he made the ultimate sacrifice when he was killed in action in French Flanders on 4 June 1917.
Harry is interred in Bapaume Australian Cemetery, maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (Bapaume is a town 22 kilometres south of Arras and 26 kilometres south-west of Cambrai).
