Necoda Alice Gurganus was born on 7 May 1873 in Washington, North Carolina, United States, daughter of Henry Snowden Smith Gurganus (1825 - 1911) and Claricy Hutchings (Ange) Gurganus (1830 - 1907).

Her siblings were:

  1. Cason Wheeler Gurganus (1858 - 1934)
  2. Joanna Hutchins (Gurganus) Respess (1863 - 1960)
  3. Annie Gurganus (1863 - 1880)
  4. Henry Thomas Gurganus (1866 - 1953)

Necoda married Charles Macon Kelly (1873 - 1955). Their children were:

  1. Leala Agnes Kelly (1907 - 1907)
  2. Fostine K. (Kelly) Briley (1912 - 1989)
  3. Marshall (Kelly) Dixon (1917 - 2012).

Necoda died on 29 Sep 1953 in Farmville, Pitt, North Carolina aged 80. She is buried in Kelly Family Cemetery, Washington County, North Carolina.[1]
