OBITUARY: Arthur David Gurule, loving father and brother passed away on November 20, 2021. He was born in Albuquerque, NM on September 25,1962.

Arthur is preceded in death by his parents Harold & Viola Gurule. He is survived by his sons Joshua( Kiana) and Jeremy Gurule and Alicia Zimmer. His brother Donald (Cathleen) Gurule, sister Donna Raimondi. He was also survived by his nephews, great nephews and niece.

Arthur Gurule grew up in Alameda and later resided in Rio Rancho, NM. The oldest of 3 kids, Arthur grew up loving and playing baseball. He started out at North Valley Little League, Babe Ruth Little League and was a star Center-fielder at Cibola High School. It was during this time that he was also introduced to health and fitness, especially weightlifting. He went on to compete in numerous events and would become one of the strongest athletes at CHS and still holds the state record for bench press for his weight class. After graduating High School in 1980, Arthur continued to coach at his alma mater for 2 years helping the team build the foundation that would win a State Championship. Arthur started working at the Albuquerque Publishing Company (Journal) soon after graduation on the docks loading papers. Through his amazing 30 years with the company, he ascended to become lead MC of the pressroom before his retirement. Arthur learned to appreciate the outdoors and camping with his parents and siblings. They traveled all over the southwest where they shared amazing memories and experiences. He would later share that love with his pride and joy, his two sons Joshua and Jeremy. There wasn’t a moment when he wasn’t doing something with or for his sons. They enjoyed camping trips together with their mother, Alicia, especially at Vallecitos Lake where he taught them how to fish and enjoy the outdoors. Arthur was an avid fisherman and he loved sharing those memories with his sons. He also shared his love of baseball with his sons taking them to places like Chicago to see and appreciate historic Wrigley Field. Arthur supported his sons and never missed an opportunity to see them play. An amazing father, his sons always came first in his life and it showed in the way he spoke of and how he dedicated his life for them. Arthur was a very humble and simple man. He loved his family and friends. He lived his life guided by his extensive knowledge of the Bible and his Christian faith. In his humility, Arthur gave us all an amazing example of how to live our lives and that is a lasting testament to the man he was. His wings were ready, but our hearts were not. He will truly be missed
