Biography

Gustaf Gustafsson (Justa Justis; also known as Giosta Giostason) was born at Fort Trinity in 1655.[1] He was the son of the Swedish soldier Johan Gustafsson and Brita Månsdotter. [1] He married Anna Morton, daughter of Mårten Mårtensson of Ammansland, c. 1681. [2]

At the time of the 1693 census Gustaf and Anna lived at Kingsessing with five children: John (born 1682), Måns (1684), Gustaf (8 Feb.1686), Mårten (1689) and Anders (1691). [3] Later children were: Peter (b. 1693), Helena (1695), Charles (15 Oct. 1697), Maria.[3]

Gustaf died in Kingsessing in 1721/2.[1]

The eldest of nine sons of Johan Gustafsson, was born in 1655 and married by 1681 to Anna, daughter of Marten Martensson, Sr. At the time of the census they had five children: John, Mans, Gustaf, Marten and Anders. The eighth in the household was Gustaf's brother Jacob, born in 1673, who was buried 30 Aug. 1699 with another brother, Peter Justis. Gustaf was still a resident of Kingsessing when the will of Justa Justis was signed on 7 Feb. 1721/2; it was proved ten days later. His wife Anna had predeceased him.

Death and Legacy

"Justea Justea", yeoman, of Kingsessing, Philadelphia Co. wrote his will 7 Feb 1721; it was proved 17 Feb 1721.[4]
