Joel Trumbull Gustin was born in Goshen, Connecticut on 12 October 1757. He married Ann Green ("Ann/Nancy Taylor Green") and had at least one child, Mary Ball Gustin, who married Daniel Renner. Joel died 11 June 1839 in Georgetown, Washington, D.C.[1]
In 1809, Dr. Joel T. Gustine - "or his namesake son" - was "of Winchester, Virginia."[2]
"Smith had business with Joel Trumbull Gustine (1759–1839), a native of Connecticut and Revolutionary War veteran then resident in Winchester, or his namesake son and fellow physician (Gustine Courson Weaver, The Gustine Compendium [1929], 99–104)."
Widow's Pension
"Ann Taylor Gustene" applied for a widow's pension (pension number W23166) based on the service, in Connecticut, of Joel Gustene.[6] Sergeant Joel Gustin served in Connecticut, also Private & Corporal, under Captains Person, Meigs, and Wyllys.[5]

Maiden names
It appears that Mary, wife of Joel, married (2) Capt. Robert Webster.[8] According to the DAR, the maiden name of Capt. Robert Webster's wife was Burk.[9]
Trumbull may be his mother's maiden name: DAR has his middle name as Trumbull, but I cannot find a Trumbull in John or Mary's tree (possible grandparents, John Gustin and Mary Bushnell) and just one Joel who married into the family a generation or so after this Joel was born). ~ ls
Mary Parker-4571, who was attached as his mother prior to 23 February 2020, was also attached as wife of "Samuel Alpheus" Gustin, who married another wife named Mary (Aberdy-1), with his marriage to Mary Aberdy in 1754 (and her death in 1814), according to WikiTree as of 23 Feb. 2020. Since this Dr. Joel Trumbull Gustin was born in 1757, this rules out Mary Parker as his mother but introduces Mary Aberdy as a possibility, if "Samuel Alpheus" Gustin is actually his father (which I doubt). ~ ls
Geni shows Dr. Joel Trumbull Gustine as son of Lemuel - aka "Amos", "Samuel" - Gustine (born 1724 at New Salem, Essex County, Massachusetts, died 1803, Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania) and his wife Hannah. It shows Lemuel as son of Samuel (aka Lemuel) and Abigail Gustin, but no sources.[11]
