Biography
Charles was born in 1846. He is the son of John Gutteridge and Sarah Harrison. Like his father and elder brother (Jeffrey) Charles was a wheelwright. By the time he was 24 he was married to Mary Ann and they were living with her parents in Norhtgate Street. In 1881 they had moved to 10 Cumberland Street in Leicester and had 5 children. By the 1901 census they were living at 50 All Saints Road in Leicester and had 3 more children. Most of the children worked in the boot and shoe industry, but John was a waiter at an inn. Frank was killed in France during the 1st world war on 13th June 1918. He was 33. [1]
