I was born at St. Anthony's Hospital on January 4, 1950 to William "Bill" Leeper, Jr. and Jack Dee (Srader) Guy. They were both students at Oklahoma City University.

My birth father and mother divorced when I was ten months old. Subsequently, she married Virgil Helm Guy, Jr. in 1953. He subsequently adopted me, hence the current legal surname of Guy. I did not become aware of the adoption until I learned it when I was 35 in 1985. My half-brother Virgil Bruce Guy was born in 1954 and my half-sister, Virginia Deyne (Guy) Garner was born in 1964.

After learning about my true familial circumstances, I subsequently located my paternal grandmother, Lola Carroll Leeper, of whom I had latent memories as someone who took care of me and also my birth father, Bill Leeper, Jr. and other family members. I'm thankful for my adoptive father who remains in good health at 94 and that I was able to establish relationships with my close paternal relatives before they passed.

I was raised mostly in the Oklahoma City area until 1960, when our family moved to Allen, Oklahoma, where we published a weekly newspaper, The Allen Advocate. I attended the University of Oklahoma and East Central State University, becoming a high school language arts and special education teacher, mostly in El Reno, Oklahoma. In 1991, I became a communications consultant with the Oklahoma Education Association in Oklahoma City. Over the next 23 years, I worked with four different state affiliates (in Oklahoma, Massachusetts, Tennessee, and California) of the National Education Association in communications, public and media relations, organizing, and training. I retired in 2020.

I have had several of the DNA tests and my ancestry is mostly centered in the British Isles, France, Germany, and Scandinavia. States in which my ancestors lived include Massachusetts, New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Kentucky, Arkansas, and Texas.

Relevant surnames going back four generations include Guy, Leeper, Srader, Goodin, Billington, Garton, Wallace, Alter, Ward, Carroll.

Thank you so much. Today's session was quite informative and enjoyable. I almost felt like we had chatted over cups of tea. :) I taught school in Australia for four years in the 1970s, becoming an aficiaonado of "hot" tea. :)
