Biography

Marie Clara Guy was born and baptized on 31 Aug 1870 in Notre-Dame-de-Liesse parish in Rivière-Ouelle, Kamouraska, Québec, Canada. She was the daughter of Pierre Guy, woodworker, and Henriette Bonefant of this parish. Sponsors for Clara's baptism were Frédérick Gagnon and Eugénie Bélanger; Eugénie Bélanger signed the register.

At age 19 Clara married Germain Gagnon, a farmer, on 15 Apr 1890 in Notre-Dame-de-Liesse parish in Rivière-Ouelle, Kamouraska, Québec, Canada. The couple received a dispensation for two banns of marriage and for a double third degree of consanguinity. There were 11 known children born into this marriage:
