Biography

Owen Gwathmey, Jr. was one of nine children born to Owen Gwathmey, Sr. and his wife Hannah Temple.

Owen was united in marriage to Ann Rogers Clark in 1773. Ann was one of the daughters born to Jonathan 'John' Clark and his wife Ann Rogers. Ann was the sister of General William Clark, half of the exploratory team of 'Lewis and Clark'.

DAR - SAR Grave Marking; The John Marshall Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution and the Gov Isaac Shelby Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will place memorial markers at the Cave Hill Cemetery grave of Patriot Owen Gwathmey in Louisville KY on June 5 2022. Gwathmey was served as a Captain in the county militia, was Sheriff of the county and provided beef. Descendants of Owen Gwathmey are welcome to attend.
