Hello Vicki, and welcome to WikiTree! The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site youve ever used.
WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!
When you confirm your email address, youll have an opportunity to become a member of WikiTree. Just add a Tag for each family surname or location you are researching. Then click the Post Tags and Volunteer button. (information on Tags can be found at http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Tags). One of our Greeters will be happy to confirm your membership.
WikiTree is an exciting and growing community and we are really glad you decided to join us.
thank you for signing the Honor Code.
Serious genealogists like you make Wikitree a great community
Have a great journey on WT.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.
Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.
