Biography

Gary W Haagenson is a part of New Mexico.

Gary was born in St. Joseph's hospital on June 16, 1949 in Albuquerque NM, to Norman Haagenson and Lera (Ritchey) Haagenson, Gary is the youngest of three siblings.
The oldest sibling was sister Dusty Alexander Haagenson,
and the middle sibling is brother Larry Haagenson.

Gary grew up in the south valley of Albuquerque and went to Old Armijo grade school, Ernie Pyle junior high, and Rio Grande High school. After high school he attended the University of New Mexico for two years before getting a draft notice and joining the US Army.

He married his first wife Diane on Jan 10, 1969 and this marriage produced one child Cherie, before ending in divorce in 1974?.

Gary W Haagenson is a Military Veteran.
Served in the United States Army Security Agency 1969-1971 attaining the rank of Specialist Fifth Class
Served during the Vietnam conflict stationed in North Africa

Gary enlisted, to avoid the draft, in the Army on May 2, 1969. Basic training was at Ft Ord in California and Advanced training was for cryptographic equipment repair in Ft Monmouth New Jersey. During advanced training he was inducted into the ASA (Army Security Agency) where he would serve until the end of his enlistment on December 19, 1971. He traveled to many countries around the world during this enlistment including being stationed in Ashmere Ethiopia Africa for about a year. After the service he went back to Albuquerque and took up residence in Alameda just north of Albuquerque.

Gary went to work for Xerox Corp. in 1972 using the skills he learned in while in the Army. He started Xerox in Albuquerque as a service technician and quickly worked his way up to management and then upper management. During is career with Xerox he remarried Sally in 1978 (She had one child Melissa to a previous marriage). The family moved to Denver (Parker) CO in 1978 and to the Bay Area CA in 1980 then back to Parker CO in 1982 where they lived until Gary and Sally divorced in 1994. Gary then moved to Aurora CO where he lived until his retirement from Xerox on December 31, 1999.

After Retirement Gary has lived in Big Pine Key Florida, the Kiamichi Mountains NE of Moyers Oklahoma and Powderly Texas.


Gary met Sheila Daughtrey of Paris TX in October 2003 while living in the KW mountains, and moved to Powderly TX in 2009 to be with Sheila and her live in grandson Justin.

In 2014 they built their beautiful retirement home on the 8.3 acre property that Gary purchased in 2009 where they currently live.
