Jean-François was one of the ten brothers of Rustico.[1]
JEAN-FRANCOIS GALLANT was born April 6, 1742 and baptized the same day in Port La Joye, Ile St-Jean.[2][3] He was the son of François Haché and Anne Boudrot. [4] The godfather was Monsieur le chevalier du Chambon, and the godmother Demoiselle de St Vilmé.
He was listed at 11 years of age in the 1752 census at Rivière-du-Nord-Est, Isle Saint-Jean.[5]
He married Agnès Doucet, daughter of François Doucet and Marie Carré, around 1765 in Rustico, Isle Saint-Jean which was then part of Nova Scotia Colony (in present-day Prince Edward Island). [citation needed]
In 1798 he was listed in the census at South-Rustico, lot 24.[7]

Good morning. Jean Francois's birth and baptism date looks like the 16th (seizieme/sesieme) of April rather than the 6th (sixieme). Jean Bernard's Généalogie des familles acadiennes de l'Île-du-Prince-Édouard, c. 1764 - c. 1900, Baie de Malpèque, Î.-P.-É page 2278 of Volume 4 notes Stephen White's recorded dates as 16 April 1742 for Jean Francois's birth and baptism. I'm curious to see what everyone else thinks.
Good morning Nicole. The way that the word is written (sesieme), it looks more like sixième (6th) but its' pronunciation sounds more like seizième (16th). Maybe the 16th was written that way at the time? I defer to the experts on this, who are used to deciphering old manuscripts. The previous entry is for the baptism of Madeleine Angot, daughter of Robert Angot and Marguerite Haché, born on sesieme August 1741. The same couple had a daughter Henriette born in December 1739, on the sesieme, maybe. Bottom of left page. I wonder if these events were interpreted the same way by researchers. And what does genealogiequebec.com indicate for a date? (I don't have a subscription)
