Biography

[1] A cemetery index found in the St John's Church in Bensenvilel Illinois. They were already married and lived in the area. Addison Township, Dupage Co. They were members of this church. Possibly this is were some of their oldest children were born, their names in the 1899 list. When the city of Chicago expanded the runways at O'hare in 1952 , it annexed the land around the airport and St John's Cemetery fell within city limits. That made it the oldest existing cemetery , within the boundaries of Chicago. According to the local historian, Helen Sclair. The church had been at the same spot for 79 years before moving 2 miles west. They left the stones there. Lots of noise but the way of life. The church must have been fairly young when my ancestors arrived from Germany and set up house.

William and Wilhelmina Hacker married in Bloomingdales DuPage Co. Illinois October 8 1874

From DuPage Co. where they lived they likely were able to see the Great Chicago Fire October 8 -10 1871 They possibly were in the area when it started.

William and Minnie were married for 37 years before her death. She had lived her for 41 years . Her husband William came here in 1867 and died in 1935. He was 91 years old. He lived for another 24 years and possible married another woman and lived in Wisconsin for a while? I see there is in 1920 a John Schultz with a wife but I don't know this for sure. He is uncounted for this 1920 Census. It's rather sad they came to a new country shared a life together and didn't end up being side by side at their end.
