Biography

Ebenezer was born 23 Sept 1730, in Salisbury, Massachusetts Bay Colony. He is the son of Ebenezer Hackett and Hannah Ring. [1]

He and Abigail Emery filed marriage Intentions, 24 Mar 1752, in Newbury, Massachusetts Bay Colony.[2] They married 29 May 1752 in Newbury. [3]

Children: Born in Newbury, Massachusetts:

  1. Daniel b. 25 May 1753
  2. Moses b. 24 July 1755

______________

"He removed from Newbury Mass to Goffstown NH after 1756; removed from Goffstown to Dunbarton about 1774. In that year, he with others, petitioned for the right to fish with a scoop or clip nets on the Merrimack. He lived in Dunbarton in 1787. Purchased one of the highest priced pews in the new meeting house in 1789. He served in the Revolutionary War. His name is found on the muster and payroll of the men for bounty and travel money paid by Col. Moor out of his Regt. to march to New York. Agreeable to a late requisition the 26th of September 1777, ref. N.H. Rev. Rolls Fol. 1, XIV. Childs Gazateer of Washington County says, that Eben Hackett the father was among those detailed to dig trenches at Bunker Hill, (p. 483). His sons Daniel and Moses also served in the Revolution. He was a Selectman of Dunbarton 1783-, 88-93; Moderator 1790. Only three of his children are recorded in the Newbury Mass. records. It is possible that some of them were born in Dunbarton. "**

Note: Moses (his son) and Kezia’s marriage record indicates that his mother is Abigail Moulton (same date), contrary to his parents marriage records in Massachusetts that indicate that Ebenezer married Abigail Emery.***

Another point of confusion is that there is another Abigail Emery, born 1737 in Newbury, MA that married Ephraim Boynton, Jr. who is being referenced instead of the Abigail Emery born in 1731 Amesbury MA who married Ebenezer Hackett.
