1856-1923
L. N. was with parents through the 1870 census. In 1880 he is living in Cass Co., Missouri with his step-mother Theresa Jane and all of his half-siblings ( he is listed as head of household).
In 1900 he was a hotel proprietor -curious to find out more about this hotel! His older brother Elbert W. is living with him. L.N. lists himself here (and in 1910) as 'widowed'. I have not been able to locate any information about his marriage, wife or children (as of Aug 2016). See 1895 link below with wife SARAH--research needed. I'm not sure when L.N. left Missouri for Kansas so cannot quite pinpoint search area either. UPDATE SEP 2021: it is now clear that L.N. married Sarah HOLLOWAY. Her grandparents were James Holloway-3779 and Mildred White-43205 through their eldest son William (no profile currently). She died 23 Jan 1900; her FaGR is now linked to L.N.'s--see it for additional details.
The Williams family staying at his house as his 'servants' are soon to be joined to the Hackler family through his nephew John Reuben Jr.'s Hackler-30 marriage to Bryant A. Williams-18575.
Still operating the hotel in 1910 --also noted is that the boarding house is on 'C' Street and the two female 'servants' are the cook and the waitress for the boarding house. Elbert is still living with him.
I can't locate L.N. in 1920 and am not sure when he went to California after the 1915 Kansas census.
It is likely that his nephew, Harry Hackler-123, took over the hotel after L.N. died. See Harry's 1930 census page.
