Biography
Maria L.B. Hackney was born 14 March 1817 at Maryland.[1] She was a daughter of Barton Philpott Hackney and Mary Deaver.[2]
In 1907, Maria's niece, Mary E. Garrott, wrote a letter to a cousin telling the story of what happened to Maria and her siblings after their parents died:
- "In 1834 Charles Philpott Hackney and his two older sisters, Sarah and Marie, after the death of their parents, walked from Petersville, Maryland to Deavertown, Ohio. He left his two younger sisters with relatives in Petersville. Martha lived with Aunt Sarah Boteler - Lynch until her marriage at 19 and Susan stayed with Uncle Abraham Deaver until her marriage at 17."[2] The three older children walked more than 300 miles. They all married in Morgan County, Ohio, while the two younger siblings married in Frederick County, Maryland.[2]
On 22 March 1838, Isaac Dodd married Maria L.B. Hackney at Morgan County, Ohio.[3][2]
Four years later, Maria B. Dodds married Harrison Pauley at Callaway County, Missouri.[4]
Maria died 28 June 1888 at Broadwater County, Montana. She was buried in Winston Cemetery, at Winston, Broadwater County.[1]
