Biography

Hannah was a Friend (Quaker)

From the family history referenced below:

Born in Chester Co., PA on July 10-1746; died July 23-1831; son of John and Elizabeth Johnson; married Feb 26 1766 Hannah Hadley, daughter of Joshua Hadley and Patience Brown Hadley, born in Augusta Co., VA Feb 26-1749: died Feb 17-1895; witnesses to the marriage: Margaret Stout, Abigail Pike, Mary Peggott, Hannah Stanfield, William Marshall, Joseph Hadley, David Vestal, Wlliam Hobson, Richard Kemp, Patience Hadley, Elizabeth Johnson, and Simon Hadley. Jesse died of a skull fracture obtained by falling through a barn loft. Jesse is buried at Cane's Creek. Their children (same as Quaker record to follow).

The Quaker meeting minutes referenced below contain the genealogy of Jesse and Hannah's family as follows:

Jesse Johnson (parents John and Elizabeth) b. 10 Jul 1745 in PA m. in 1769 Hannah Hadley (parents Joshua and Patience Brown) b. 26 Feb 1749 in PA

Their children:

John b 23 Jul 1767
Isaac b. 14 Jul 1774
Jesse b. 9 Dec1776
Jeremiah b. 1 Apr 1779
Simon b. 19 Nov 1783

Research Notes

The family bible referenced below records the births, deaths marriages of only Jesse Johnson, his wife Hannah Johnson (does not say Hadley or give her maiden name), their daughter Hannah and her two sons Enos Johnson and Matthias Johnson, with their spouses and children. Hannah was the last child born to her parents, could it be that they got a new bible and started with her birth and her descendants?
