Biography
George Hadley, Jr, son of George Hadley and Elizabeth Plummer was born 8 Aug 1740 after his father had drowned in Island Pond at Hampstead, NH. [his birth in not listed in VR for Haverhill, MA].
In 1759, when 19 years old, George served as a soldier in Captain Moore's company of Colonel Bagley's regiment in the French and Indian War. As a result of his service, he was able to by land in 1762. [1]
In 1775 he served in the Militia in Colonel Daniel Moore's volunteers. In 1776 he hired a substitute.
He married 1st 1764 at Hampstead, NH to Lydia Wells [b 1742 Haverhill, MA [parents not identified] d 28 Jan 1806 Weare, NH]. He married 2nd his 2nd cousin, the widow Mehitable (nee Hadley) TOY of Weare, the daug of Daniel HADLEY and Mehitable WHITTAKER. He died 3 Nov 1823 in Weare, NH
