John Terris was born on November 14, 1905 Jacksonville, Duval, Florida, United States. His parents were Wesley Hagan and Margarethe Fredericka Schmidt. They had seven (7) children.[1]
In 1930, John and Caryl were living in Jacksonville, Duval, Florida, United States with their newborn son, Lee.[2]
In 1935, they were living in the same town with a new daughter.[3]
In 1940, the family was still living in Jacksonville, Duval, Florida, United States.[4]
On February 17, 1956, John died from a gunshot wound (see Obituary) in Duval, Florida, United States.[5]
He was buried at Oaklawn Cemetery, Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida, USA.[6]
Obituary (The Florida Times-Union, February 19, 1956): "HAGAN - Funeral services for J. Terris Hagan, 50, of 10 W. 20th Street, who died Friday night of an accidental gunshot wound, will be held at Livingston Memorial Methodist Church at 3 P.M. tomorrow. The Rev. James E. Jenkins, Pastor, will officiate.
"Graveside services will be conducted in Oaklawn Cemetery by members of Temple Lodge 23, F. and A. M.
"Mr. Hagan was born in Jacksonville but was reared in Atlanta. He returned here in 1928. He was president of Julia and Adams Street Properties, Inc. and of Berwin Distributing Company.
"Long active in athletic, charitable and fraternal organizations, Mr. Hagan was a member of Livingston Memorial Methodist Church; the Morocco Temple of the Shrine; Joseph Greenfield Lodge, F. and A. M. of Atlanta; The Meninak Club; Seminole Club; Chamber of Commerce; and Quarterback club; and was a director of Jacksonville Charities, Inc.; the Gator Bowl Association, and the Tourist and Convention Bureay.
"Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Caryl Ruth Lindsay Hagan; two daughters, Caryl Ann Hagan of Jacksonville and Mrs. Linda Carry of Hapeville, Ga.; two sons, Lee Hagan, II of Maryville, Tennessee, and J. Terris Hagan, Jr., a student at the University of Georgia; his mother, Mrs. Margaret S. Hagan of Atlanta; a sister, Mrs. Robert Byerly of Winston-Salem, N.C.; five brothers, William Hagan of Atlanta, Wesley and Fred Hagan of Jacksonville, and Capt. Charles Kane Hagan, with the Army in Arizona; and Harry Hagan; and two grandchildren.
"The family has requested that flowers be omitted and any memorial offering be made instead to Hope Haven Hospital. S. A. Kyle is directing arrangements."
