Jesse Malachi Hagin was a blond haired, blue eyed southern gentleman. He was a self taught carpenter, cigar maker, and ultimately he was an engineer on oil tankers. He traveled the world for months at a time. His family only saw him a few times a year. One of the ports he went to was New York. He was working with his brother Paul at the time. He and Paul went on blind a date with 2 sisters from Brooklyn. Jesse and Paul ended up marrying the sisters. Jesse married Marie Raia, and Paul married Paulina Raia. Jesse continued to travel the world after his marriage. Eventually he retired in 1961 from Mobil Oil. He finally stayed home and his family got the opportunity to really know and enjoy him. He and Mary were together until 1967 when he died suddenly during the night. written by his granddaughter, Susan Ellen Smith.
