Biography

Paul was born in Dessau, Germany. His occupation was confectioner. He was a pastry chef for several large hotels/resorts.

His first visit to the US was in 1907. In 1909, Paul and his future wife Elisabeth Napp, came to America on the ship Cincinnatti, arriving Oct. 25, 1909. They settled in Montreal, where they were married on Nov. 7, 1909 in St. John's Lutheran Church.

Paul and Elisabeth had 2 children: Bernard & Ernestine (both born in Quebec).

In 1916 the family moved to Washington. Paul became a US citizen on March 25, 1922.

After Elizabeth died, Paul married Rose (Krueger) Hering on August 4, 1926 in Spokane, Washington.

Paul was the only member of his family that left Germany. In 1930, Paul, Rose, Benny & Erna visited relatives in Germany, spending 4 weeks in Hamburg & Berlin. (see attached photo)

In the early 1950's, Paul & Rose moved to Paradise, California. [1]

Paul died in 1956 and is buried in East Lawn Memorial Park in Sacramento, California. [2]
