Biography

Gustav Robert Hahn was born about 1860, in West Prussia, the son of Henrietta Kales and Carl August (Hahn).[1]

Gustav Robert married firstly Wilhelmine Emma Lange, about 1881, in West Prussia. They had one child, daughter Ottilie Emelie, about 1882, before Wilhelmine Emma died.

Gustav Robert married secondly Emilie Henriette Radke, about 1882, in Brandenburg, Germany. They had two sons, Hermann Paul, and Otto Robert, before the decision to emigrate. The rest of their children were born in Queensland.

Gustav Robert emigrated with his second wife, their two sons, and the daughter of his first marriage, in 1898. (It is not sure at this time if the family migrated from Prussia, or Germany, so further research is needed.)

Gustav Robert married thirdly widow Anna Catharina Beitzel née Wilken on the 3rd July 1912, in Queensland. [2]


Gustav Robert Hahn passed away on the 29th March 1933, in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, aged 73 years.[3] His parents are listed as Henrietta Kales and Carl August (Hahn). The Daily Standard Brisbane published an obituary on the 18th April 1933 which mentioned when he came to Australia.[4] The Courier Mail published a lightly longer obituary that mentions how he came to Australia, his second wife's death leaving him with eight children, and his remarrying a widow.[5] The Queensland Times ran a slightly longer obituary which mentions the vessel on which the family arrived.[6]
